Medigap Plan D

Medigap Plan D is a Medicare Supplement plan that will provide you coverage for some of the out-of-pocket costs you have to pay while enrolled in Original Medicare. Do note that while the two sound similar, Medigap Plan D and Medicare Part D are two separate plans.

What Does Plan D Cover?

While Plan D isn’t the most comprehensive Medicare Supplement plan, it still provides a good amount of coverage.

Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs
Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayment
Medicare Part A deductible
Medicare Part B coinsurance and hospital costs
First three pints of blood for transfusions
Skilled nursing care facility coinsurance

What Does Plan D Not Cover?

Although Plan D covers the majority of out-of-pocket costs, it will not cover Part B excess charges or the Part B deductible.
